2014 Nissan Sentra Transmission problems?

Hello, so my mother's 2014 sentra makes a whining sound when accelerating above 20 and goes away when letting go of the gas pedal (i can only hear it from thw outside not the inside of the car)I looked around and most of the things I read led me to cvt problems. Any ideas?
