My mother means well, but she is exhausting.
So, Bug was diagnosed autistic a little while ago. My mother has been bombarding me with articles about curing autism with gluten free diets and webinars, etc. It's annoying on its own because I already have a full plate here, I don't need her giving me homework assignments too, but to make it worse, she is doing it on Facebook. She is posting these things and tagging me.
I like to think she means well. I think she does. But the public nature feels icky. There are private messages on Facebook. She doesn't have to be public. She doesn't have to make my daughter's condition her banner. I don't know.
My mom isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but she also isn't stupid. She is bipolar, and when she is up, she is a bit obnoxious. God, my parents used to get mad at me when I was a kid and got like that, but she does it and it's okay, just how she is, and I should deal with it.
I just want her to calm the fuck down. Stop thinking the worst and being so paranoid! I don't tell her every issue because she spirals into depression and my dad blames me. But if it's a big enough issue, I say something. I don't know... I'm tired, allergies suck, and I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about everything. I don't need her wishy-washiness involved in me forming an opinion.
-sigh-
In other news, Bug was rejected for full day classes this year. They said it's just too late in the year, but she will qualify next year. I'm a little disappointed and a little relieved.
I've been in the autism sub and I have mixed feelings. Like most things I am finding I fall somewhere in the middle (so far) on my opinions about the hot button issues with ASD. Navigating all those ideas and feelings is rough enough, I don't need my mom on my back asking me if I saw her latest link on Facebook- I especially don't need it on Facebook where I end up questioning her motives.
If I didn't have this raging headache, I would need a good strong drink. I leave these texting sessions with her absolutely drained from having to reassure her over and over that I'm not mad. Or convince her that just because I take two minutes to respond doesn't mean I'm too busy to text- give me some time FFS!
