DLC Access

I'm buying the season pass for my son's birthday and I wonder how do you access the DLC, it is a separate menu for the DLC under "Add-Ons" and you just play the new quests or it is integrated in the main game and it will add new locations and characters + quests to the existing DLC, he would love if it is going to add more things to do to the existing game.
