My ranking of each Beatles album and why
After thinking for a while I wanted to rank my favorite Beatles albums in order of my personal preference. I know Magical Mystery Tour was a double ep when originally released but I consider it a studio album, so the list will be 1-13. Here's my list:
-
Rubber Soul - because I love the folk rock and songs such as In My Life, I'm Looking Through You, Nowhere Man, and Norwegian Wood. Also I think it was where they really started to mature as a band.
-
Revolver - much like Rubber Soul it was a very adventurous album with psychedelic songs I really enjoy such as Tomorrow Never Knows, She Said She Said, And Your Bird Can Sing, along with other great baroque songs such as For No One and Good Day Sunshine
-
The Beatles (the White Album) - Would be number one because there were some of their best songs on it, but it didn't flow very well in my opinion, is very long, and has some songs I don't really enjoy that much. Don't get me wrong it's a great album. My favorites are Happiness is a Warm Gun, Yer Blues, and Dear Prudence, along with While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
-
Abbey Road - A great final album to conclude their career (it was recorded after Let it Be). I love every song on it.
-
Let it Be - I like every song on it but I think Abbey Road is slightly better. I like Across the Universe, Two of Us, and the Long and Winding Road the most.
-
Help! - It's a great album. I love Ticket to Ride, I've Just Seen a Face, and of course, Help! I also like Yesterday, and although not as good as rubber soul in my opinion, it had some really nice folk songs.
-
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - it's a very good album but I don't think it's their best. I get that it was the first concept album and everything but there's some songs I don't really like on it such as When I'm 64, Within You Without You, and She's Leaving Home. I do really like A Day in the Life, Getting Better, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Fixing a Hole, and the reprise.
-
Beatles For Sale - A very good album in the beginning, and a major turning point in my opinion. I really love the songs Eight Days a Week, I'm a Loser, I Don't Want to Spoil the Party, and Mr. Moonlight (even though a lot of people I know don't like that song).
-
A Hard Days Night - A catchy album to listen to, my favorites are I Should've Known Better and A Hard Days Night.
-
Please Please Me - Would be higher up but considering half the songs are covers and the other half are just love songs I had to put it lower. Don't get me wrong I love Please Please Me and Twist and Shout.
-
Magical Mystery Tour - I've never been a fan of this album. I like All You Need is Love and Hello Goodbye but I was never a big fan of their acid trip inspired songs such as I am the Walrus! I also think it was too kid oriented with the coloring book and glittery album cover with them dressed as animals.
-
Yellow Submarine - I love Hey Bulldog and Its All Too Much but one side is just orchestral music (which is still good) and also has songs that were already from previous albums such as Yellow Submarine and All You Need is Love.
-
With the Beatles - I don't think there were any notable songs from this album other than some rock n roll covers and some simply written love songs. Even though it's at the bottom it's still good.
