Bakemonogatari prequels?

I’ve been thinking about watching this show, but apparently, checking on MAL, this anime has several prequels, so many it seems almost absurd.

My question is- are all the “seasons” related? Or can I just pick this one or the one with the famous “toothbrush scene” (which sparkled my interest) up without having to watch every single prequel?

Thanks!
