Need Advice on USB C and 29W IPad Pro charging with concern of burning out IPad Pro.

I was interested in the faster charging time associated with this newer USB C cable and 29W charge...However when I went to the Apple Store to purchase the apple 'genius' told me the 29W charger would "Burn out" my iPad if left plugged in all night and I needed to get the 12w instead.

Is this true? I ended up purchasing the 12W, however, all the articles and reviews I see don't mention this concern.

I don't have apple care and don't want to risk this happening. But did she give me a valid concern or was she talking about things she didn't know? She seemed very confident but I want a second opinion since I don't understand the voltage concerns very well.

Edit: it's the original larger iPad Pro. Not the smaller one. **Update Edit 2: I spoke with Apple.com respresentive and they stated a few things but notably avoided my direct question of "will this harm or burn out my iPad Pro". She stated

  1. You can use the 29w with IPad Pro large
  2. She said " I use it all the time"
  3. "Officially apple recommends the 12w"

I got about the same level of info as Reddit and other articles. It's used and is faster to charge, but all she could saw is apple recommends the 12w.

Thank you very much.
