I was cast in my first role and made some very big decisions today...

While this probably seems laughably insignificant, I feel today was some kind of turning point in my life and my pursuit of acting.

Long story short, I'm a 31/m classical musician who is slightly burnt-out on music and has always been passionate about acting. I started taking classes last year and started auditioning for various theater/commercial/film projects in January (living in Atlanta, btw).

I got my first callback last week and was cast in a good role in an original play. It's a small but respectable theater in Atlanta; technically paid, but really just a step above community theater. I was happy with this progress until I realized that the play would interfere with some music projects/concerts this summer...

So, I cancelled those concerts and am doing the play. I don't want to miss out on my first role in something, no matter how small. I have been known as a "musician" for so long that this seems like a huge mental shift for me. Anyway, the play runs for the month of August and I'm interested to see where it all leads!

tl;dr Turned my back on my musical heritage and training to accept my first role in a production. All is well.
