Center of consciousness

I'm trying to get my head around what Rupert Spira says in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-KGrZ2Af6w

He sets the scene, of a vase of flowers in the middle of the table. You ask everyone sat around the table, to describe the flowers. Each answer is slightly different, as you would expect, but consistent. Then you wake up in bed, to find it was a dream. You realise there were no other people, with their own awareness. You had projected what you thought they were experiencing, from their own point of view.

So whilst I sleep, and dream, I'm playing god in my own independent world.

He then goes onto say, in the waking state, it's the same, except now everything is born out of the same conciousness/awareness. But this is where I get stuck, because he starts talking about everyone, as if they all have their own centre of awareness. Lots of centres. It makes sense, as awareness, must surly need a centre. Otherwise how does it see anything? But then I'm lost on the dreaming analogy, which suggests there is only one awareness. Mine.
