Massive doesn't reward players PLAYING the game.
I played 150 hours now and every of my rounds playing The Division getting shorter and shorter, and myself more frustrated every time I play it.
I won't get into detail about what I think The Division is generally making wrong (like Ubisoft still saying it's an RPG, let's be honest, Fallout 4 or Witcher 3 are RPGs...), because I could write a whole book about that. For this post, I just take the game as it is - which took me a while to accept, because I see so many things done wrong and so much potential wasted - and how it doesn't reward you for playing it like it is.
-
Solo play - You can forget about that. I often play the game solo, but I don't have any chance to progress like that. Why? Challenge mode - not doable solo. Incursion - not doable solo. So those only two modes in the game that give you granted good loot are not doable alone.
-
Looting - 150 hours and my gear is shit. Why? Because it's only based on luck if you will ever get good loot. There is no way to get really good loot in the DarkZone or by crafting where you can say "I want that and I know how to achieve it, by skill or whatever" Most of the items you get will either have crappy stats, crappy talents or since the last patch also crappy gear score. Which made everything even worse.
-
I don't use exploits = I am fucked. Exploiters get the best loot faster than anyone else.
-
Crafting got unaffordable by ridiculous level restriction and material costs.
So Massive desperately tries to pretend there is something like an End-game in this game and they try to achieve this by keeping people from getting good loot. Their logic - the more crappy loot they find, the longer they will play.
And that's the greatest bullshit I've ever, ever seen in a game. Why should I play a game that doesn't reward me?
Both, hardcore and casual gamers will stop playing sooner or later, because as a casual you don't have the time to farm the game and as a hardcore player you get frustrated because you farm so much without getting rewarded.
We need to be able to get much more and better loot in more ways and have much more control over our item stats. ( I mean, think about how many useless stuff is in the game: All LMGs, all Shotguns, most ARs, many SMGs, so much useless equipment etc, etc) Give people the chance to think about how they will build their characters actively and make new tactics in PvE and PvP. Give us a real endgame - with new mechanics, new ways to play and so on.
There needs to be a Massive (lol) change. And I guess at least some of you will agree.
