New Verizon update causing charging issues

I got the new Verizon patch today. Now my phone is going nuts. It won't charge consistently, and even when nothing is plugged in rapidly gives the start/stop charging noise and vibration. It almost seems like a short, touching the device seems to trigger it more rapidly, especially near the power plug.

It was working absolutely fine prior to the update, now its crazy.

A couple of times its even triggered the Gear VR screens as if that is plugged in.

Update

I did a full reset, didn't appear to help. I did notice that the problem seemed to happen mostly in the 50-60% battery level, and wouldn't really happen above or below that.

After several days where I charged it to full, and then used it until it died, is appears to have gone away.
