Familiar with Eyes of Charming

Hey guys. I'm working on an encounter for some of my players this weekend, and I'm looking to make a very clever bandit group led by an Arcane Trickster. I'm interested in giving him a Raven familiar and equipping said familiar with the Eyes of Charming. Now, if I did this and the PC failed their save against the charm, would they be charmed by the familiar, or could I have the affect of the charm make them friendly towards the familiars owner? What do you think? Any help is greatly appreciated! Also, this is for 5e, forgot to mention it in the title!
