API Test Kit Safety Handling

I just got my new API test kit in the mail and tested my 2 week old tank. As I went through the instructions I saw the label said it was extremely dangerous on skin contact, not to mention cancer causing. It said you should wear gloves but of course I didn't. Maybe it is mental but I swear my fingers burn a bit now after rinsing out the tubes.

So I'm just wondering how experienced people handle these chemicals? What are good safety tips? Do you wear gloves and what is the best way to keep the glass tubes clean?
