"No Device Found" when attempting to cast

Every second or third time I attempt to cast from my computer, the browser insist that it can't find the chromecast, even though it's hooked up and showcasing a lovely slideshow of pictures. Only way to fix it is to restart Chrome.
Win7, latest verion of Chrome.
have both Regular chromecast extension and the beta one. Have disabled both in order to rule out conflicts between the two.
Any ideas?
