Question - Have to wait for workers to complete task before collecting node?

I'm very new so forgive the dumb question. I'm trying to collect a node to regain contribution points, but it says "cannot collect on a node that is currently connected to two other Nodes" and there is no button to remove contribution. This is the last node in a chain of 2, nothing connected except the node that precedes it closer to town.

I have an active worker (waiting for him to finish task 15 minutes left) on this node. So is it telling me one thing, but in reality I just have to wait for this worker to finish his task before I can reclaim my contribution?
