Visualization for a way beginner

So I'm going to be starting public health school soon to do something in epidemiology/biostats. I have very elementary knowledge of R and Python, I believe we will be expected to learn SAS as well. But I've been really interested in visualization and wonder if there are some skills I could pick up and where to begin. I have some basic knowledge of Adobe too but I don't know if that counts in visualization lol.
