How much could I take in a tuxedo jacket?

I have tough off-the-rack proportions for my chest and waist. I've spotted a tuxedo I love for my wedding, but my wide waist is almost the same size as my chest and so I can't really wear something with the usual 5" drop. Could I buy a jacket 3 or even 4" too big and then have it taken in by the tailors at Brooks Brothers, or am I SOL?
