Statute of limitations for civil property damage
I live in California. I have been sued by a debt collector for vehicle damage that occurred in Reno more than 3 years ago. They sued me last year without my knowledge and received a default judgement against me for 8000 dollars. I have refused to pay but they can garnish my wages and account.
Now my question is can I refute the garnishment when it happens since the accident was so long ago?
Also part 2 : I never crashed a car in Reno so they sued the wrong person and I have informed them of this by my lawyer and myself multiple times. Can I sue and possibly get a judgment against them?
