What's your fave bottle under 46%?
I've been trying a lot of different whiskies recently and noticed that I'm finding anything bottled at under 46% just lacking in some way. I don't know if it's the chill-filtering exactly or just the way they feel watery. And it can't be confirmation bias because in most cases I'm trying new things off a bar menu and have no idea of the strength until I've drunk it. Arran 12, for instance, impressed the hell out of me, but I had no idea it was cask strength until I looked it up later. Conversely, Bowmore 18 was a bit of a letdown, and sure enough, 43%. Even if I end up adding a little water, the stronger ones taste better.
So in an attempt not to become a complete proof snob, what's good under 46%? What should I keep an eye out for?
