Thoughts on the Epilogue

I've been on this sub a lot today, and there seems to be a general sentiment that the epilogue is going to be the 'real' ending of Homestuck, that all our questions are going to be cleared up, that it'll make up for the disappointment of Act 7.

Honestly, thinking about the epilogue like that is just setting yourself up for disappointment. An epilogue was never intended to be the real ending! In the newspost, literally all Hussie says is that an epilogue is something he's thought about, and that it will arrive - in some form or other - an indeterminate amount of time in the future. There's no concrete plans for it at all, just a vague promise of something of some form coming some time in the future. The only way the epilogue was intended to be the real ending is if Hussie was trolling us all, and drops the (pre-written, pre-planned) epilogue sometime next week, and I'm almost certain that's not going to happen; it's just delusional wishful thinking.

I see anything we may get from this point forth as a gift from Hussie: I'll be happy if and when it arrives, but I'll have no expectations whatsoever. All I really want at this point is a few last pesterlogs between relevant characters; going over some recently relevant arcs, like the Matriorb; and a status check in MIA characters like Slick, MsPaint and the Felt; the various Sprites; Terezi; and Vriska and the trolls in the Furthest Ring. I'll be happy (and surprised) if he shows what happens with Gamzee and either confirms/denies the Yaldabaoth theory, and absolutely ecstatic (and even more surprised) if he explains when Caliborn's Masterpiece occurs, but seriously, guys, don't expect it to fix all the problems with Act 7 and clear up the myriad dangling (and likely forgotten) plot threads that still exist. Hope for too much, and you'll just be disappointed. Just my 2c.
