Trouble with summon more than one person

We are having zero luck with summoning more than one person. My friends will place their signs down and once I summon one of them the other sign is gone. We tried dash boarding, being away from the bonfire, alternating hosts, passwords, no passwords, and nothing works. Is this happening to you? If so, how did you fix it?
