Joseph Smith - Atheist

I personally have an opinion that Joseph Smith was an atheist. Just from reading the history, his initial scamming schemes. I believe he used God as a way to gain wealth, fame and women and he knew God wasn't real.

Thoughts on my opinion? Anyone agree? Disagree? I actually want to write an essay about this.
