Weird experience at a restaurant today. Am I crazy?
Sorry if this is not the right place but seemed the best bet. Went to dinner tonight just myself and my two kids. Some weird things happened:
-This restaurant normally serves bread at the table, we where outside so I didn't think anything of it's absence until the waiter brought out our appetizer and then told me he'd bring our bread out now as he, "Didn't want you (indicating me) to fill up on it before the food". He then continued to remark that he had only brought one slice for each of us because bread is bad and proceeded to lean in close to my face saying "beware the bread" in an ominous voice to both myself and my children to the point that my 9 year old asked what's wrong with the bread and my three year old got scared and climbed into my lap and refused to eat the bread.
-I was then served my main dish Fettuccine Carbonara, a dish I ordered previously at the same restaurant and was delicious, rich and fatty sure but delicious. I had planned my day's diet around this for dinner. The plate I was served looked like a light version, there was almost no sauce, no bacon and it was just a clump of noodles. I immediately called him over and asked for a new plate explaining the problem. He then did bring me another plate that actually had sauce on it.
My 9 year old was incredibly creeped out by the waiter and thought he was super weird. I was upset and freaked out so I left a standard tip ( not my usual 25%) and got out of there but now I'm feeling like this guy served me based upon my appearance, at a size 18 I am no will o' wisp. So Reddit... am I crazy?
P.S. -I ordered a diet coke for my three year old and my 9 year old ordered her own drink, a lemonade. The waiter then turned back to my three year old and said to her, "Wouldn't you rather have a lemonade too?" (This is admittedly a separate issue as my three year old has a condition that causes her body not to properly digest sugar (a legitimate diagnosis through biopsy not a fad diet))
