Any of you guys in LA, or have knowledge of CA law?

Hey guys, I'm moving out to LA from Illinois for work at the end of May. Lurking this sub has got me interest in sailing out there and I was considering starting on a Sunfish and taking lessons once I get settled to prepare myself for the bigger vessels.

Would any of you want to point me in the right direction with learning or if there are specific laws regarding small sail boats and registering them?
