Trying to learning to use a Hitbox

So, I have recently modded my old TE fight stick into a hitbox.
I've been watching the Hitbox Arcade videos The videos are helpful, but, I could use some more tips. So, I'm reaching out to the community for a bit of help.

Anyone here have experience making the switch?
