Need help! Madden 25 WR keeps getting subbed as 3drb.

I'm poor so I just got Madden 25 a few months ago and I play a lot of offline connected franchise. Problem is, my WR characters keep getting put in the backfield on 3rd down. It doesn't matter where I put him in the formation before hand (outside, strong slot etc), he always winds up as the RB on 3rd down. I've tried Balanced, Speed, Red-Zone Threat, and Quick Route Runner and all are getting subbed as 3drb. Any way to change this? It's so frustrating!
