2 Stroke Top End Question

So spring is here and I will soon start riding my RM125 again. I got it used this past September (first 2 stroke), and put about 10 hrs on it with great top end. There still feels like there is good compression, and I believe there is some decent life left in the current top end. Thing is, am unsure how many hrs the previous owner actually put on it (it might be sitting at like 30-40). I have all the parts on hand for a top end rebuild, but may wait till after some more rides...

What is the risk with running a top end past its usable life? If there is any, is my best bet just replacing the top end first thing? I am not too experienced mechanically so i may just have my local shop do the rebuild (at $90/hr) to avoid any problems, so its decent money to be throwing around...

edit: my bike runs slightly rich jetting, 32:1. Same plug tho, yet to foul one
