Automatron dlc bug

I started a new character when automatron was released, but didn't do the quest when it became available at lvl 15. Now I'm ready at lvl 40 to build some sweet robots but when I tune to the caravan distress call I'm met with radio silence. I cant engage the quest line. Has anyone had a similar problem? Is there a fix? Or can you tell me the location of the caravan so I can go there and smash the bots without prompting?
