The Vive made my woman a VR believer. Also, impressions.
Got mine today. I timed my setup - 13min. It was cake. Probably helped I was prepared reading the forums, but man, some tech site reviewers are such noobs at setting things up.
I braced myself for low resolution, sde, etc. I was very pleasantly surprised how great things look. Text is the only thing that could be sharper, but not a deal breaker and goes away once you're in the zone. I previously used a DK2 which I thought was pretty rough so I'm totally loving the consumer release of the Vive. In no time, I was blasting shit in space pirate, punching beats in audio shield, and playing a lot of the Lab. A solid hour of bliss. I hated that I had real life stuff to do, like dinner. Also - I had to make the woman try it.
I begged my fiance to try it. She claimed she was too tired - but I kept annoying her until she finally caved. I should preface that she thought I was crazy to spend a grand on it but I assured her it'd be worth it. I started her on the robot repair and she was shaking and just kept saying "this is unbelievable". She did NOT enjoy the fall flooring or me laughing at her sweat. I then started her on Audio Shield and she was HOOKED. Five songs later, I forced her out and put her in Tilt Brush. Couldn't get her to stop - I had to close it and I gave her the drone game in the Lab. She became mega pissed she couldn't beat my top score but tried her hardest. She officially has more time in VR than I do.
Some of her many quotes from her using the Vive: "What you paid was a steal for what this thing can do." "OK, can we please get two in the house. Can we play games together, this is so fucking cool" "I'm so glad you bought this, this is amazing. I can't wait do cardio in this."
Mission accomplished boys. :D If the future wife didn't like VR, it was going to be a rough future for us lol. I asked her what her final thought was, "I fully support having this. We need to everyone over to try this."
I took tomorrow off so I get me time. I have so many damn things to play - can't wait!
