What game are the "spherical spheres" a reference to?

In the extras menu where you can choose alternative bolt styles, each of the alternate styles are references to a different video game. So for example I think the rare minerals are supposed to be rupees from The Legend of Zelda games..Does anyone know what game the spheres are supposed to be a reference to?
