Spoiler. What to do with my Boss Soul.

How is the hollowslayer greatsword at or near the softcaps? In particular, how does it compare to the claymore in damage output on a pure physical build? I'm trying to decide between that and the spear for my ng run. If the hollowslayer's higher dex scaling leads to a substantial damage increase I would want it, but if the claymore does basically the same amount of damage then I would just use it and take the spear for healing minor damage.
