so sick of the lawyer hate.

so there was a recent thread in r/askreddit asking whats not illegal but only horrible people do it, and a bunch of people said be a lawyer. sure, there are some bad lawyers, just like there are some bad people in every profession. but you know what? we work our ass off, working 70 hours a week, and no we don't bill for all of it. and no, most of us are not rich--hello 200k tuition. and we get stiffed on our bills A LOT and end up working for free. most of the lawyers I know, myself included, take our clients cases VERY personally. I cant tell you how many sleepless nights, how many days I am sick to my stomach worried about how my clients case is going to turn out usually because they didn't take my advice.

I work in family law. most of my colleagues and myself always try to get a result that's best for the kids while advocating for our clients interests. yes, we're such bad people.

and you know what? without lawyers we would have no way to enforce our rights, and wouldn't have most of those rights. our criminal justice system would still look like the salem witch trials.

everyone hates lawyers until you need one.
