TIFU by giving myself a chemical burn (Slightly graphic medical content)

S

So, I've been dealing with these warts on my right pointer finger since I graduated from college(2013). Originally, I thought it was a callous that formed from they way I fenced, given their location and how my epee rested in my hand while going Italian. But they kept growing even after I switched to a different grip.

So, after trying to have the doctor remove them with cryotherapy(this was last December) I decided to try using a 40% Salicylic Acid solution. This was about 3 weeks ago, mind you. Anyway I started to use it and was surprised to see them appeared to not only be growing, but also hardening.

So I have been increasing the area of use over the past few weeks and they didn't really dawn on me until I was in the shower just now that it doesn't really look like a wart anymore. Its not just that it's too big, but it's also to smooth in some areas. It was also one half inch by half inch (1.5cm x 1.5cm) area of my finger tip instead of two small dots. So did a quick google search and yup... Its a chemical burn.

Really hoping its only a 2nd degree burn as I accidentally tore part of it off in the shower and while the skin underneath looked very raw, it was still there.

TL;DR: was over zealous in getting rid of two warts and gave my self a chemical burn
