Been trying to flush my coolant.. Is this normal?
2004 F150 5.4L v8.
My truck overheated on Tuesday so I checked the coolant level and it was dry in the reservoir. Luckily I was close to an Autozone so I picked up some 50/50 and made it back home where I began a flush to add the correct coolant. I drained the 50/50 and whatever else was in there and got about a gallon and a fourth of another (my capacity is 2gal). Since then I've been adding only distilled water and only keep flushing out brown stuff. So far it's 9gallons that I've flushed out. Far right jug is the latest one and it looks browner than the rest! Could I be looking at something more serious than I previously anticipated?
Other symptoms- water in the exhaust, heater works intermittently, degass (coolant) reservoir leaks over when idling for 10+ minutes.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
