Reducing nausea with ondansetron?

Will using ondansetron help reduce nausea and stop me from throwing up when I take oxycodone? I've been using promethazine and that helps with it but I was wondering if the ondansetron would work the same way. How much should I take in the case it does work (I have three 4mg pills. Will I need to take it all?) Thanks for any help.
