Earthbound $9.99 instead of $7.99

Can somebody explain to me why all other snes vc games are $8, but earthbound in particular is $10? I remember when the eshop showed it as $8; also, i vaguely recall a thread in which somebody brought to light that there was a price discrepancy b/w the shop website and 3ds shop, as well as somebody else who said their uncle who worked at nintendo would fix it (i swear this isnt complete bullshit lol).
