I missed these great stories [3rd Level Spoilers]
So there I was, a moundmaker. I placed my sign down for someone to summon. I'd done some fights earlier, but it was always me vs 2, and ended with me killing the summon and getting my reward.
I got summoned. I loaded into a host getting destroyed by the Great Machete mob at the dilapidated bridge bonfire and another moundmaker taking advantage of the situation. My old Dark Souls honor kicked in and I rushed to his aid. I backstabbed the phantom while the host took out the mob. Now it was a mexican standoff. It didn't last long. This moundmaker rushed right at the host and I followed close behind. I don't know why, but I took out my fellow moundmaker. The host healed and got ready to fight me, but all I did was use the rest gesture.
He was, at this moment, invaded by another moundmaker. We didn't take our eyes off of each other, but we waited. Eventually, the spirit catches up, and we ready our weapons. The spirit charges at me and I evade into the open area under fire from the giant archer.
Now, this phantom was much better than me or the host. He parried me twice, and already had the warmth miracle, meaning he successfully invaded as a moundmaker 30 times. Eventually though, in a last ditch effort, I run as close behind the host as I can, and we both just sprinted. In comes the arrow that hits the phantom, followed by 3 of the villager mobs to attack him. He panics, gets hit, tries to heal, and panic rolls deeper in. He ended up in the house, presumably afraid of arrows. We never saw him again, save for the message of his death.
At this point I gesture onwards, offering to help the host press on, but instead, he waves goodbye and rolls off of the cliff, granting me my reward.
It's moments like these that kept Dark Souls online functionality (I don't know if I should call this PvP or Co-Op) fresh and exciting years into the game's life span, and I'm glad to see that despite the series' popularity, the players are still (in most cases) great.
