Hello. I built a PC recently and everything works fine with Windows 7 and turning on and such, but I can't plug ANYTHING into the USB drives and get Windows 7 to recognize it. The only thing it recognizes is my keyboard and mouse. Since I'm too far away from my router to connect an ethernet chord to it, I cannot connect to the internet that way, but I can't connect via my Wireless Network Adapter either since the computer will NOT read any USB devices. BIOS shows them, but Windows 7 does not. This is to my knowledge entirely an OS problem. I do not have a disc drive I can use at the moment either.
List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.
I have re-installed Windows 7 twice, taken apart and rebuilt my PC and double checked with friends that everything is in the correct spots, tried to install the drivers via USB (but Windows 7 can't even recognize the USB is in!), and looked for a spare disc drive to no avail.
Provide any additional details you wish below.
In Device Manager, under "Other devices", the six devices that show up with a yellow ! mark are as followed: =Ethernet Controller =PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller =PCI Memory Controller =PCI Simple Communications Controller =SM Bus Controller =Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
Please help me. I've been deathly excited to use my first PC but with Windows 7 not reading USB's, I can't even connect to the internet to set anything up.
