Which planes on the BF109 and FW190 lines benefit greatly from gun pods, and which suffer?

So I personally don't like taking out gun pods because I like the maneuverability. But unless I'm flying the FW190 A-4/A-5/A-8 it's easy to run low on ammo. Any recommendations on planes where the benefit from the extra firepower outweighs the maneuverability loss? Or is it more map/playstyle dependent?
