DragonLance - help?

A friend of mine forced this series into my hands and essentially made me feel guilty for never having read it.

I'm about 200 pages in now and I just find it mostly boring. I get it, it's a D&D game wrapped into a book. It doesn't feel like a lot of worldbuilding is happening.

I'm into ASOIAF, Sanderson stuff, WoT is decent though hard to plow through, Lightbringer was very enjoyable, even Amber Chronicles had that worldbuilding that this lacks.

Am I ever gonna get it or should I just give up if I don't like it already?
