Updating Pirated Copies and Saves

Hey this is probably a stupid question but suppose I pirated the witcher 3 in its current build, will I be able to update my game later on when the expansion comes out and still continue with the save or does updating pirated games make it impossible to access that save. Thanks In advance :P
