My goal is to have enough content to raise 30k on Kickstarter/Indiegogo in 1.5 Years, Advice Wanted
This is my game Cull, and here is its most recent trailer. The goal that I've set for myself that keeps me working hard and in high spirits is to have enough content (characters, storyline, environment etc...) to have a impressive enough trailer and ingame content to raise 30,000 on kickstarter. If I achieve that, I'll probably stop working full time and commit myself to finishing this dream project of mine. If not I'll keep working away, but it'd certainly be a bit of a setback.
While 1.5 years may seem a long ways off, i've come to find my deadlines approach quickly. Really looking for advice on how to increase the odds of a successful kickstarter/indiegogo campaign?
How should I raise awareness for my game when I'm spending almost all of my time working on development? I already have an indiedb page but are there better ways to use it? Should I just get a website soon? What content is a must in a promo video? How much storyline should I reveal and what should I hold back? How do I ensure investors I'm committed to this project and will see it through? Should I use Kickstarter or Indiegogo? Should I use flex funding? How should I proceed if I don't raise the money?
I apologize for all these big questions, even if I don't get perfect answers for all of them, I just want to get some outside recommendations to consider as I continue my development.
Thanks!
Andy
FYI I've already put about 1.5 years worth of work so far, and have developed 50% of the 4kmx4km environment along with 1 rigged main character with animations. I have a basic UI as well. Just a lot of time left developing key scenes in the game and 3d modeling.
