My Dwarves don't like it when you criticize their favorite poets.

The whole altercation started when the visiting Elf Merchant decided to punch the visiting poet in the face while he was performing, in the resulting bar fight, both of the elves visiting had their heads bashed open with a ramie sandal. I had just traded a ton of goods for some wooden crafts and a lion, but I guess I get those for free now.

Edit: I never got my lions, they attacked the tavern after my dwarves tried to reclaim their cages.
