Sci-fi fantasy that deals in the philosophical meaning of life and god.

I just finished reading Hyperion and it's sequel by Dan Simmons and have also read Stranger in a Strange Land, and His Dark Materials series. All of them have this over arching theme of god or the meaning of existence. Can anyone recommend more novels that fit this criteria. Series are more than welcome. Thanks!
