I need suggestions for web technologies for a project I have in mind
I haven't developed a website before that was hosted anywhere or necessarily functional, so I need suggestions on just about every level of the stack.
My project is basically specialized as a Pokemon search engine so that competitive players can easily find the best Pokemon that would fit their party (either to fill the last gap or be the starting pick etc). The search engine will focus on running extremely complex db queries that they configure visually. Expect users to be able to configure a series of radio buttons, check boxes, dropdowns, text fields, buttons, etc potentially over tabbed sections that will resort in db queries with variations of ands, ors, limits, orders, group by, etc
What my project needs (and therefore what my technologies need to excel at) :
- Relational Database
- Most of the db will be statically loaded as a base search engine
- the relations will be complex, so it does need to be relational
- Some user based content will need to go in the db, but it's not important enough to require ACID
- A language that connects front to back end
- Front end requirements:
- not angular which will have to locally manage a copy of the data. Probably something like Ruby on Rails
- fairly easy to develop dynamic front end pages based on user input until they're ready to send the search request
- whether it's MVC, MVVM or whatever isn't important so long as it meets all other requirements
- back end requirements:
- the language MUST have a well developed/maintained native support or third party package that can handle advanced dynamic queries.
- Server/host requirements:
- easy to use
- preferably a "pay by use" or free service
