No summon signs appearing.

I am now level 50 with a +4 weapon but I haven't seen any summon signs. I am playing online with matchmaking turned on. Also I am in the sunlight convenant. I have used an ember and have been embered the whole way through.

I've been through farron keep, cathedral etc. and still haven't seen one.

Is it bad luck or have I made a mistake?
