Spent 5 & 1/2 years sober - ruined it all a year ago. Time to fight this shit.

Hi guys,

This is my first ever reddit post. I'll make this as short as possible...

Basically, I'm 28 years old and have an addiction issue. This month I will be celebrating 12 months off being high. I smoked pot for 13 years, daily (around 3.5g a day - for those who don't know, it's a lot).

Last year, around 10 months ago, I was celebrating 5 & 1/2 years of sobriety. I drank daily from 19 until 22, dont think i spent a day sober in three years. I finally got my act together as I was tired of drinking beer for breakfast, got sober and just continued smoking pot. Once i quit pot, I made an unfortunate choice; I thought I could celebrate and have a bit of a drink. Boy, was I wrong.

Its now ten months later, and I'm drinking 750mls of bourbon daily (I believe that's called a fifth). My problem is worse than before, and i need to stop. My memory is turning to garbage, as is my brain in general. I'm shaking, my fingers tremble, muscles spasm and organs flutter. I'm losing touch with the world, my friends and family. I'm tired of this shit.

I hope this doesn't come across as a plea for sympathy - its not. I just wanted to say these things to somebody, or at least put the words out there so the gravity of the situation might pull me in.

Thanks for reading, Ned
