Friend owes money [Texas]

Alright, let me try to explain the story first off. Friend of mine was going through some court issues which involved his bank accounts being frozen. They were frozen because his aunt was suing him over the death of his gram. He was getting his gram's money deposited into his bank account(s) which one was a joint account with his gram's name on it. The aunt had POA and was able to block access to the accounts the money went into. Well they were also the accounts his income went to so he couldn't pay his bills (electric, phone, etc). I sent him the money over Paypal to help him out as he promised he'd have access to the money on March 24th. It totaled to a little over $2,200. It's now April 14th and I'm still getting excuses as to why he can't pay me back. At this point I'm looking to see what my legal options are considering the money was sent from Paypal Credit as a cash advance and is already accruing interest. We are both in Texas but in different counties. What are my options? The money was sent under the "friend/family" option on Paypal if that matters any.
