Black screens and resets

I searched past posts and couldn't find anything but I don't like bothering you guys for help so I'll make a short and long so you don't have to read my rantings.

Short: -Is there a fix for games that go to a black screen and freeze the ps3? I read somewhere that an eboot can stop it from running.

-After I reset the ps3 from a freeze should I be doing anything? OFW does a corruption check but CFW doesn't seem to do that.

-I added a new game to my HDD but only Webman sees it. Multiman doesn't show it in its list of games. Should I worry about this or nah?

Long:

I thought that the games that froze up on the ps3 were just corrupted or not installed correctly because I bought the ps3 with games loaded on. Some worked find and some didn't. However, I backed up a copy of Tomb Raider from the disc straight to the HDD. Opened it up and it ran fine until the end of the first cut scene then black screen and a freeze. It seems like this is a well known issue? And something to do with the eboot? I'm not sure but that's what I've read. I tried using this guide http://psx-scene.com/forums/f187/eboot-bin-repository-74327/ But the links seem to be dead. I also tried the wiki method for the RTM but my Norton AV wouldn't allow the program I needed to run and disabling is not an option. Plus the guide was for RTM and I'm not sure if that would have helped me.

-I get freezes a lot. Especially with Netflix, I installed a custom Netflix that doesn't need psn sign in. For some reason, it will randomly freeze. It doesn't happen with any other apps, Movian will run for hours with no problems so I'm guessing it's just the app. I once deleted and reinstalled it but no go. Doesn't bother me a whole lot, just annoying. but with all the lock ups and power button restarts I'm thinking maybe I'm messing something up?

-this last one kinda just bugs me. I got borderlands onto the ps3 via ftp and Webman sees it. I can load it and it seems to play just fine. But Multiman doesn't show it and I'm wondering if I need to do something else to make it show up?
