I'm (22/M) moving next month and she (20/F) wants longdistance.

Me and my girlfriend have been together now for one year, but next month I'll be moving cities (4-5 hours away) to go to school. She's known this for the entire relationship and for the longest time it was a big stress on both of us. We decided that we would give longdistance a chance, as I'll be doing my pilot training and can pick her up on weekends.

But now that it's getting closer, I'm starting to feel that longdistance is a bad idea. Everybody that is in my life that I've talked to has had nothing but terrible experiences with longdistance relationships that have all lead of bitter ends.

My training is only about a year, but the big question as a pilot is where your job will take you especially in the beginning. I feel like this next year could be just the tip of the iceberg as far as time apart. This is he first time I've ever had the awful experience of having to break up with somebody you still love. I guess my question is to people who have been in similar positions, how was it? Is it worth it? Or is it better to revisit the relationship later? Do you have tips for making it easier?
