Question about PvP and 1 other thing (spoilers)

Is there a red soapstone, or a place to by orbs (and possibly upgrade materials?), I can't buy anything useful. Also, does the crow still take items for trade? I keep dropping everything I find on his best but he just keeps saying no, pickle! Or something. Any help would be appreciated
